Everything you need to know about Skin Disorder - Actinic Keratosis

In this article we discuss the Skin Disorder - Actinic Keratosis. In simple words it is a rough, scaly patch on your skin that develops from years of exposure to the sun. It is most commonly found on your face, lips, ears, back of your hands, forearms, scalp or neck. Since, these are the areas which are exposed to sun UV rays.
In not-so-medical terms people also called it solar keratosis, an actinic keratosis enlarges slowly and usually causes no signs or symptoms other than a patch or small spot on your skin. These lesions take years to develop, usually first appearing in older adults. We recommend you to visit your doctor, if you see potential actinic keratosis growing.
A small percentage of actinic keratosis lesions can eventually become skin cancer. However, you can reduce your risk of actinic keratosis by minimizing your sun exposure and protecting your skin from ultraviolet (UV) rays.
Some skin conditions have no known cause. Many skin disorders may arise from a combination of genetic susceptibility and environmental stressors, such as illness, allergens, or exposure to irritants.

We lose billions of skin cells every day from our bodies, so helping the process along isn’t such a bad thing. In fact, it makes sense to remove dead skin cells before they clog pores and become pimples. Visit WellMedica to learn more about the skin disorder you have and more treatments to exfoliate skin. You can discuss methods to generate new cell growth, and the combination with acne creams or gels to allow the medication to penetrate further into the skin. Potential risks include redness, blisters, scaling and crusting, scarring, infection, and abnormal skin coloring.

“Dr. Ali is not only a beautiful, highly intelligent woman but also an amazing healer. She treated my face, ravaged over time byrosacea, coupled with multiple broken facial blood vessels and transformed what was ruddy, red and sometimes purple hued skin into a clearcomplexioned healthy and totally makeup free face, and I thank her most graciously.” *
