WHAT TECHNOLOGY IS USED FOR CO2RE® LASER?
CO2RE® from Candela is a versatile, nonsurgical, fractional CO2 laser system featuring a 10,600nm wavelength. This technology uses thousands of microscopic laser columns – each just one-tenth the diameter of a hair follicle – to provide precision when targeting and effectively treating the skin’s surface, middle, and deep dermal levels. This versatile laser offers a wide range of treatment intensities to treat everything from a dull complexion to advanced signs of aging.
IS CO2RE® LASER RIGHT FOR ME?
The best candidates for CO2RE® laser skin resurfacing tend to be people who struggle with one or more of the following:
- Fine lines and deep wrinkles
- Sun damaged skin including age spots
- Baggy under eyes
- Surgical, burn, and/or acne scars
- Uneven skin tone and textural concerns
- Skin tags
- Sebaceous hyperplasia
This laser treatment does not only have to be used on the face; some patients also get treated on the hands, neck, and shoulders. Each treatment replaces about 15-20% of the treated sun-damaged, scarred, or wrinkled skin. It triggers the body’s natural healing process and accelerates the production of collagen and new, healthy skin cells.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
Typically, just 1 CO2RE® laser treatment is recommended. However, additional treatments may be required for areas that cannot be treated aggressively. One example includes when patients have more advanced signs of aging, such as deeper wrinkles or severe skin laxity. In these cases, 2 or 3 treatments may be required to achieve the best result.
HOW MUCH DOES CO2RE® LASER COST?
Treatments start at $2,000. There are a variety of factors that determine the overall price. To ensure that your CO2RE® procedure is affordable, we accept a variety of payment methods including special financing plans.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT?
Patients that are undergoing treatment with the CO2RE® laser should be sure to:
- Hydrate sufficiently (64 fluid ounces daily for one week prior to treatment).
- Avoid alcohol for 7 days prior to the procedure to decrease the risk of bruising.
- Avoid NSAIDs for 14 days prior to treatment.
- If you have a history of cold sores, please inform Dr. Dima, as you may need to be pre-treated with an antiviral medication.
- Discontinue topical retinoids or other skin irritants for a minimum of 3 - 5 days prior to treatment.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure and use SPF 30+.
- Avoid using alcohol-based cleansers, as this removes moisture from your skin.
Immediately after treatment, most patients will experience redness for 1 - 3 days; however, for more aggressive treatments, redness may last longer. Slight to moderate swelling and a mild to moderate sunburn sensation are also common post-treatment and may last 1 - 3 days. After the second day, the skin will appear as an exaggerated tan. The treated skin will then begin to flake at 5 - 7 days for the chest or 10 - 14 days for the hands.
