Xeomin is made from the bacteria that causes botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscle which causes a temporary reduction in muscle activity. Therefore, muscles are unable to move as freely helping to reduce wrinkles. It is FDA approved to treat this condition after it was proven to be safe and effective. Worldwide, more than 84,000 people have been treated with Xeomin injections, and the number is only increasing.
Here at WellMedica we only use this injectable cosmetically. However, it is also known to treat cervical dystonia (severe spasms in the neck), muscle spasms in the arm, as well as certain eye muscle conditions caused by nerve disorders.
Here at WellMedica we offer Xeomin, Dysport and Botox to our patients. A lot of people compare these treatments, and many people do not know the differences between the three. They are similar because they both work the same way cosmetically. They prevent the muscles movement and hence, smoothen wrinkles. They also share the same active ingredient – botulinum toxin A, and results last around the same time (3- 4 months).
The cost will likely be comparable to Botox if not slightly lower. The amount of Xeomin each patient will need depends on each patient’s condition, and area they would like to be treated. In order to get an accurate estimate of how much injections will cost we encourage you to come in for consultation with Dr. Dima who creates customized treatment plans for all of her patients.
