Permanent Makeup – What is it?

Permanent cosmetic makeup is getting cosmetic tattoos. It is a specialized technique that deposits colored pigment into the upper reticular layer of the dermis. Many use permanent makeup to fill in their lips, eyebrows, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and more. At WellMedica all these options are possible with a variety of different colors and techniques in order to give our clients the best possible results.

Permanent Makeup Advantages

Permanent makeup is great for those that are busy and want more time to spend on precious and important tasks. Imagine how much extra time you would have if you did not have to apply and remove your make up every day! You can also save a ton of money by not having to spend money on makeup every month. This treatment allows for a CONSISTENT appearance that is flattering and customized to exactly what you want. No more rushing to get your makeup done and feeling unhappy with the way it looks. No more stress and anxiety that can come with the daily application of makeup. When you consider all the time you will save with this simple procedure, it is no wonder everyone is getting it!

Is it right for you?

Those that are interested in this procedure must meet the minimum age requirement in order to make sure their skin heals properly from minor wounds that can occur after treatment. Minimum age is anyone over 18. As mentioned above it is great for someone that has a very busy schedule and does not have the time to apply makeup every day. It is also very valuable to those that have allergies or sensitive skin to typical cosmetic makeup. Those that have skin problems such as acne from heavy duty make up may also be interested in this treatment to reduce breakouts. Individuals who are very active also benefit from permanent make up. For instance if you work out on a consistent basis, or go swimming every day permanent makeup is a great alternative to always look glamorous look. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about sweating off heavy makeup.

How long does each procedure take?

Initial procedure will usually take around 2 to 2 ½ hours – however this does depend on each person’s condition as well as their desired look. There are also records to establish and pictures to take prior to procedure as well as after. One will need to discuss their desired look, and color before the procedure with their technician in order to establish exactly what the client would like. Therefore, we do require a consultation prior treatment with each of our clients and our technician. There is also follow up procedures to discuss, as well as after care. One should give themselves plenty of time prior and post treatment.

Permanent Makeup for Health Issues

This type of treatment has found to be amazing for those that are visually impaired and have difficulty applying makeup. It also helps those that have dexterity related conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, and stroke survivors that find it hard to have a steady hand to apply regular makeup.

Permanent Makeup for Skin Conditions

This procedure is not just for those that wish to always have a perfect makeup look. It can be used to help those with alopecia, a genetics disturbance, hiding scars, and covering up white spots in the skin such as from the skin condition vitiligo.

Will I experience pain during the procedure?

Because permanent makeup is actually getting a tattoo most people do experience some discomfort. Of course it does depend on each person’s pain threshold –we all have a different one. To help with pain and discomfort we use a topical anesthetic that is specifically for our industry, and this specific treatment. This should help to numb the area, and allow you to experience less pain.

Is It Safe?

Permanent cosmetics are completely safe if there the proper sterilization and disinfection guidelines are met. Professionals in the permanent cosmetic industry routinely attend Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) classes to become well versed on safety principals. How are Permanent Cosmetic Procedures Performed? Using various devices permanent makeup is performed safely and effectively. It uses the traditional tattoo coil machines, the pen or rotary machine (includes the digital rotary machines) and the non-machine or hand device. With this treatment we hope to help you wake up beautiful ever day!
