WHAT IS PROTOX™ (P-TOX™)?

PROTOX™ (P-TOX™) or Bocox™ is a minimally invasive treatment that involves injecting Botox® into the corpus cavernosum of the penis on each side of the muscle. The corpus cavernosum forms most of the penis and contains vessels essential for getting an erection.

Botox® injections can relax the penile muscles, thus allowing the penis to fill with blood more effectively and stimulate growth. The PROTOX™ (P-TOX™) procedure improves erectile function by increasing blood flow to the penile tissues, enhancing oxygen delivery, increasing nitric oxide production, and promoting new nerve and blood vessel growth.

The recommended dose for optimal results is around 100 units, although this may differ depending on the individual. Dr. Dima administers this procedure using a topical anesthetic, which is very well-tolerated by patients and causes no discomfort.

Yes PROTOX™ (P-TOX™) or Bocox™ can certainly help with ED. After the Botox® injection, the penile muscles are left in a relaxed state with a wider diameter, so they can carry a greater volume of blood, thereby improving erections. This also increases the girth, followed by the length, of the penis.

There are published studies that have demonstrated the effectiveness and safety of Botox® in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).  These studies have confirmed that injecting Botox® into the erectile tissue of the penis works much like Viagra®, but by a different pathway, and has a synergistic, restorative effect like the P-Shot® (which Viagra® does not).

The E-Shot procedure involves injecting blood-derived growth factors, including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), and botulinum neurotoxin into the penis to improve its health and function. When Botox® alone is injected into the penis, it is the PROTOX™ (P-TOX™) procedure. When both Botox® and the P-Shot® are used together, it is called the Erecta Shot or E-Shot procedure. The results of the E-Shot are far more lasting than Viagra or Cialis, which have half-lives of a few hours. Dr. Dima has been doing this procedure since 2015 with great results.

PROTOX™ (P-TOX™) is a more long-term solution for erectile dysfunction. Results will vary depending on the severity of your ED, but even men who haven’t experienced any improvement with medications like Viagra report great success following this treatment. Results can take 7 - 14 days to start working, and after 6 weeks (or sooner), patients may experience the full effect.

Results should last up to 4 months, but maintenance injections are required for long-term results. You should be able to reduce the dose or time between treatments because the erectile tissue will regenerate and become more responsive over time. As with any Botox® treatment, the longer it is consistently used the longer it lasts.
