WHAT IS SCROTAL RELAXATION?
Botox® injections are a well-known procedure in the cosmetic surgery world. Now, there is a new trend among men to make the scrotum appear larger, smoother, and more attractive. Botox® injected into the scrotum is a cosmetic treatment that is cleverly being called Scrotox. This nonsurgical cosmetic procedure is being lauded by men from New York City to Beverly Hills who want to improve their sex life, decrease sweating, and improve their male aesthetic.
WHY SCROTOX (SCROTAL RELAXATION WITH BOTOX®)?
Men are seeking out Scrotox treatments for both comfort and cosmetic reasons. The length and girth of the scrotum is controlled by two main muscles, the cremaster muscle and the dartos muscle. These muscles work together to regulate the temperature of sperm based on the temperature and environment. The cremaster muscle regulates the height of the scrotum, raising during colder times and relaxing or dropping when it is warmer, in order to properly control scrotal sperm count. The dartos muscle contracts, shrinking the size of the scrotum when cold temperatures are present, making them appear smaller and covered with wrinkles. If these muscles are overactive or spastic, it can lead to testicular pain during contracture.
The Scrotox procedure works by using the neurotoxin, Botox®, to relax these muscles. Injecting Botox® into the scrotum causes the muscles to loosen, allowing the testicles to hang farther from the body, improving the smoothness of the skin and appearance of wrinkles, and increasing relaxation while improving sexual activity. It also decreases pain related to scrotal contracture.
KEY BENEFITS OF SCROTOX
The benefits of the Scrotox procedure are both medical and cosmetic. Some of the improvements you can expect as a result of Scrotox treatment include:
- Improved appearance and reduction in wrinkles.
- Reduced sweating.
- Longer, lower hanging testicles.
- Testicles that appear larger.
- Improved relaxation and comfort.
- Increased confidence.
- Better sex due to more contact with the scrotum during intercourse.
All of these benefits of Scrotox take place without surgery, in a cosmetic treatment that only takes a matter of minutes. It could take up to a week for the muscles to fully relax after the Botox® injections, at which time you will be able to enjoy all of the beneficial side effects of this male scrotal treatment.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SCROTOX TREATMENT?
A Scrotox procedure may sound scary, but it is not intimidating at all. In this short procedure, the patient will be in and out of the practice quickly with no sedation needed. First, the skin of the scrotal area is thoroughly cleaned before a topical anesthetic, or numbing cream, is applied to the area. After the anesthetic has numbed the area, Dr. Dima Ali will make a number of injections into the scrotum, targeting the cremaster muscle and dartos muscle. The injections into the testicles only last 3 to 4 minutes as each injection is carefully placed for the highest quality results. There is no downtime required after the procedure. Patients can resume normal activities, including sexual activity, the same day as the procedure.
HOW MANY UNITS OF BOTOX® ARE REQUIRED FOR SCROTOX TREATMENT?
The number of units of Botox® required for a Scrotox treatment varies for each procedure, depending on the size and thickness of the area being injected, as well as the effect desired by the patient. Because the scrotum tends to have a more contracted appearance during colder months, more Botox® may be required to generate the same loose effect during the winter than would be needed for the same treatment during warmer summer months. The average number of units for a Scrotox injection is 75 - 100 units.
WHAT IS THE DURATION OF SCROTOX?
Scrotox has a similar length of efficacy to that of other Botox® treatments. It is not a long-term health treatment. Rather, the results on the scrotum and testicles can be expected to last from 3 to 4 months, with additional appointments needed for upkeep of the desired aesthetic and level of comfort.
WHAT IS THE COST OF SCROTOX TREATMENT?
The cost of a Scrotox treatment is dependent upon the amount of Botox® used in the treatment. You can expect to pay at least $900 or more for a Scrotox treatment. Please contact WellMedica to discuss payment options and details.
