WHAT IS SMOOTHBEAM?
At Wellmedica, we provide Smoothbeam acne therapy for acne and acne scarring. Smoothbeam is a procedure used to reduce the appearance of acne, acne scarring, and wrinkles on the face and back. Smoothbeam uses laser technology that works by targeting and heating the collagen and sebaceous glands in the dermis, while protecting the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin).
Smoothbeam helps to stimulate the body’s natural collagen-building process. It is considered a multi-effect, non-ablative treatment, since it does not burn, cut, or remove any portions of the skin. Smoothbeam is an FDA-cleared diode laser that treats active acne, scars, and wrinkles. The laser bypasses the outer layer of skin to stimulate collagen production by heating the tissues underneath. In addition, Smoothbeam also has a built-in cooling system, so you won’t feel any discomfort or heat sensation.
WHAT TECHNOLOGY IS USED?
The Smoothbeam laser is an advanced diode non-invasive laser treatment for acne, acne scars, and fine lines. The laser uses a combination of skin heating and cooling to selectively heat the middle layer of the skin. By heating the middle layer, or dermis, it is possible to gently treat a variety of skin problems. Smoothbeam has a low chance of side effects. The most common side effect is mild redness in treated areas, typically lasting a few hours. Rare side effects can include blistering or color changes. Scarring is extremely rare, but possible with any treatment of the skin. Even though the laser is a cutting-edge technology, there is a chance it may not sufficiently treat your skin concerns alone.
IS SMOOTHBEAM RIGHT FOR ME?
Smoothbeam is a non-invasive, safe, and effective treatment for all skin types. Smoothbeam is ideal for people who suffer from acne and oily skin as a result of overactive sebaceous glands. It can also be used to improve the appearance of post-acne scarring. For those who are seeking anti-aging treatment, Smoothbeam can also be used to rejuvenate collagen production and improve your overall complexion.
Benefits of using the Smoothbeam laser include:
- Reduces active acne
- Treats oily skin
- Reduces appearance of scars, primarily acne scarring
- Minimizes enlarged sebaceous glands
- Smoothbeam is a non-invasive procedure
- Minimal downtime is required following treatment
- Smoothbeam is a safe and effective treatment for all skin types
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
A series of treatments are usually recommended for acne, acne scars, and wrinkles. After four treatments, active acne is typically reduced by an average of 70%. Scars and wrinkles may also be improved by a mild to a moderate degree. In addition, oil production is reduced, further enhancing a reduction in acne. The results of Smoothbeam treatments are long-lasting. Research has indicated that acne stays 70% better for two years or more after a series of four treatments. More treatments tend to be more beneficial, although most patients are generally satisfied with four.
HOW MUCH DOES SMOOTHBEAM COST?
The cost for Smoothbeam treatments starts at $600. There are a variety of factors that determine the overall price. To ensure that your Smoothbeam procedure is affordable, we accept a variety of payment methods including special financing plans.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT?
Patients that are undergoing treatment with the Smoothbeam laser should be sure to:
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 3- 6 weeks prior to treatment and use SPF 30+ daily.
- If you have a history of cold sores, discuss with Dr. Dima, so that she may prescribe antiviral medication the day before the procedure, and a few days afterward.
- On the day of the treatment, all lotions and makeup must be removed from the area being treated.
Immediately after treatment, patients may develop mild redness for 1-2 days. Generally, patients may return to work and regular daily activities. Makeup or lotions should not be used until 12 hours after the treatment. To reduce redness, swelling, and discomfort, cool compresses may be applied to the treated area.
IS SMOOTHBEAM SAFE?
Yes. The Smoothbeam laser procedure is recognized as a safe way to treat acne, acne scarring, and wrinkles for all skin types.
TESTIMONIALS?
I had great service from the Dr. and staff. I had very, very bad acne and with the skincare line and the laser treatments Dr. Ali did on me, my skin is clear and beautiful now. When people find out I had really bad, ugly acne, they always say "I would have never known" I feel comfortable looking in the mirror now without makeup on my skin. I really can't express what a change this has been for me.
