WHAT IS XEOMIN®?
Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA or botulinum toxin type A) is an injectable that is used to improve the look of moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows. This treatment is similar to other cosmetic injectables, such as Botox® and Dysport®. Xeomin® is made from the bacteria that cause botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscle, which causes a temporary reduction in muscle activity. Therefore, muscles are unable to make the movements that contribute to the appearance of wrinkles.
IS XEOMIN® RIGHT FOR ME?
Xeomin® is a safe and effective treatment for adult men and women of all ages. Xeomin® is designed to deliver the active ingredient without the protein additives, which may help prevent antibody resistance.
To prevent any resistance Dr. Dima at Wellmedica will evaluate your moderate to severe lines during each visit to determine if Xeomin®, Botox®, or Dysport® is right for you.
HOW MANY XEOMIN® TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
Most patients only require one Xeomin® treatment to achieve optimal results. Your treatments will include several units of this Xeomin® being injected into the surface of the skin at targeted areas of the face, predominately the area between the eyebrows and wrinkles on the mid-face, such as those around the eyes, nose, and mouth. Xeomin® treatments are recommended once every 3 or 4 months to maintain a youthful appearance.
HOW MUCH DOES XEOMIN® COST?
At WellMedica, we charge by each treatment area, starting at $475. Pricing by area is set at what the cost would be for the average number of units needed to treat each area.
Beware of anyone offering Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® regularly for less than what you usually see in the area. Many unethical providers may be offering Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® at highly discounted rates because products are highly diluted to maximize profit or the practice imports their product from outside the United States, making the product being used just as real as a “designer” bag, but it is fake. Remember, when you are injecting a substance into your body, it is not something to bargain hunt.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT BEFORE AND AFTER XEOMIN® TREATMENT?
In the days leading up to your Xeomin® treatment, it’s best to follow a couple of simple steps. These will help to improve your results and minimize potential side effects. Here’s what to do in the week before Xeomin® injections:
- Avoid Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medication.
- Avoid alcohol for at least 2 to 3 days before the procedure.
To best prepare yourself, follow these steps on the day of your treatment:
- Avoid applying makeup in the treated area.
- Stay calm.
Aftercare instructions post-Xeomin® treatment include:
- Exercise the muscles around the treated areas by smiling, frowning, raising your eyebrows, clenching your jaws, etc.
- Avoid lying down for at least 5 - 6 hours after receiving the injections.
- Avoid strenuous activity immediately following treatment.
- You can gently apply a cold gel pack (available if needed) to reduce bruising.
- Avoid touching or rubbing in the area treated by Xeomin®.
Bruising and swelling, with the possibility of swollen spots from the needle injection sites, are to be expected. Xeomin® can take up to 2 weeks to fully work; however, you may start to notice results in as soon as 5 - 7 days post-treatment.
IS IT SAFE?
Xeomin® is FDA-approved to treat moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Worldwide, more than 84,000 people have been treated with Xeomin® injections, and the number is only increasing.
TESTIMONIALS
She was by far one of the best doctors I have ever met. She was kind and patient. She explained everything to me very thoroughly. The Xeomin wasn’t painful at all. I was very lucky when I met her, and I already recommended her to my friends!!!
