WHAT IS XEOMIN®?

Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA, also called botulinum toxin type A), is an injectable that is used to improve the look of moderate to severe lines between eyebrows. This is quite similar to other cosmetic injectables such as Botox® and Dysport®. Xeomin is made from the bacteria that cause botulism. Botulinum toxin blocks nerve activity in the muscle, which causes a temporary reduction in muscle activity. Therefore, muscles are unable to move freely, helping to reduce wrinkles.

IS XEOMIN® RIGHT FOR ME?

Xeomin is a safe and effective treatment for adults, men, and women of all ages. Xeomin® is designed to deliver the toxin without the protein additives (purified structure), which may help prevent antibody resistance.

To prevent any resistance, at Wellmedica, Dr. Dima will evaluate your moderate to severe lines during each visit you are due for treatment to determine if Xeomin®, Botox®, or Dysport® is right for you.

HOW MANY XEOMIN® TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Most patients only require one treatment appointment to achieve optimal results. Your treatment appointments will include several units of this treatment injected into the skin surface at targeted areas of treatment, predominately the area between the eyebrows and wrinkles on the mid-face, such as those around the eyes, the nose, and the mouth. Xeomin treatments are recommended once every 3 or 4 months.

HOW MUCH DOES XEOMIN® COST?

At WellMedica we charge by area starting at $475 and up. Pricing by area is set at what the average cost would be for the number of units needed in each area.

Beware of anyone offering Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® regularly for less than what you usually see in the area. Many unethical providers offering Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® might be highly discounted because they are highly diluted to maximize profit or import their product at a discount from outside the United States, making the product being used just as real as a “designer” bag but it is fake. Remember, when you are injecting a substance into your body, it is not something to bargain hunt.

WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE AND AFTER XEOMIN® TREATMENT?

In the days leading up to your Xeomin® injection, it’s best to follow a couple of simple steps. These will help to improve the results and minimize potential side effects. Here’s what to do in the week before Botox® injections:

Avoid Aspirin or Anti-inflammatory medication
Avoid Alcohol – At least for 2 to 3 days before the procedure.

To best prepare yourself, follow these steps on the day of your treatment:

Avoid applying Skip Makeup in the area of injection.
Stay Calm

Aftercare instructions post Xeomin®:

Exercise the muscles around the treated areas like smiling, frowning, raising your eyebrows, clenching your jaws, etc.
Avoid lying down for at least 5-6 hours after receiving the injections.
Avoid strenuous activity immediately following treatment.
You can gently apply a cold gel pack (available if needed) to reduce bruising.
Avoid touching or rubbing in the area treated by Xeomin®.

Bruising and swelling are to be expected, with possible swollen spots from the needle injection sites. Xeomin® can take up to 2 weeks to fully work; however, you may start to notice the effect as soon as 5- 7 days.
